Custom Closet & Storage A place for everything — designed around what you actually own.
MA contractor for custom closet systems, walk-in closets, pantry organization, garage storage, laundry room built-ins, and mudroom cubbies. Designed around your wardrobe, your kitchen, your tools. Not a kit from a box store — a system built for your specific space and your specific stuff.
Your Closet Shouldn’t Need a Strategy Session
You shouldn’t have to dig through a pile to find the shirt you want. You shouldn’t have shoes in three different rooms because there’s no shoe storage. Your pantry shouldn’t require moving six cans to reach the one in the back. Storage problems are design problems — and design problems have design solutions.
A custom closet system transforms the same square footage you already have into organized, accessible, everything-has-a-place storage. Double hanging rods double your hanging capacity instantly. Pull-out drawers make folded items visible instead of buried in stacks. Shoe shelves at the right angle display every pair. Adjustable shelving adapts as your wardrobe changes.
At JM All-Pro Services, we design and build closet and storage systems as construction projects, not furniture assembly. That means the system is anchored to studs, level on walls that aren’t level, custom-fitted to your actual room dimensions including the weird corners, sloped ceilings, and non-square walls that every real house has. Built-in quality that kit systems from big-box stores can’t match.

Closet System Components
Every custom closet system is assembled from these building blocks — mixed and matched to fit your specific space and storage needs:
Double Hanging Rods
Two rods stacked — shirts up top, pants below. Doubles hanging capacity for shorter garments.
Single Long Hang
Full-height rod for dresses, coats, robes, and long garments that need uninterrupted drop.
Adjustable Shelving
Shelves that move to accommodate different height items. Sweater stacks, shoe boxes, handbags.
Pull-Out Drawers
Soft-close drawers for folded items, undergarments, socks, and accessories. See everything, reach everything.
Shoe Shelving
Angled display shelves or flat shelves for shoes. Sized for your collection — 10 pairs or 100.
Accessory Trays
Velvet-lined jewelry drawers, belt hooks, tie racks, scarf organizers. The details that make a closet feel custom.
Hamper Pull-Outs
Built-in hamper that slides out of the closet system. Hides laundry until wash day.
LED Lighting
Motion-activated or switch-operated LED strips under shelves and in hanging sections. See every item clearly.
Our Design-Build Process
Custom closet and storage projects take 3-5 days from measurement to finished system:
Measure + Inventory
Measure the space precisely. Discuss what you store — how many hanging items, shoes, folded, accessories. Your stuff drives the design.
Design Layout
Custom layout designed for your dimensions and inventory. Zone allocation: long hang, double hang, shelves, drawers, shoes. Reviewed together.
Material Selection
White melamine, wood-grain, painted MDF, solid wood — finish and hardware chosen. Soft-close drawer upgrades. Lighting options.
Build + Install
System built and installed — anchored to wall studs, leveled on imperfect walls, trimmed to exact dimensions. Not a kit; built to fit.
Organize + Enjoy
Final adjustments. Shelf spacing fine-tuned. Everything in its new place. Walk-through of adjustable features.
What Affects Closet System Cost
Space Size
Small reach-in cheapest. Large walk-in most expensive. Linear footage of system is primary cost driver.
Material / Finish
White melamine most affordable. Wood-grain laminate mid. Painted MDF higher. Solid wood premium.
Drawer Count
Drawers with soft-close slides cost significantly more per unit than open shelving. Budget for the drawers you’ll actually use daily.
Accessories
Jewelry inserts, belt hooks, pull-out hampers, LED lighting — each add-on increases cost. Prioritize what you’ll use.
Existing Demo
Removing old wire shelving is simple. Removing old built-ins, patching walls, and repainting adds cost before new system installs.
Electrical (Lighting)
LED puck lights or strip lighting requires electrical work — switch or motion sensor. Battery-powered alternatives simpler.

Custom Closet FAQs
How much does a custom closet cost?
Cost depends on closet size, material finish, drawer count, and accessory features. Small reach-in closet systems are the most affordable — replacing a single rod and shelf with a multi-zone system. Walk-in closet systems with drawers, shoe displays, and LED lighting are mid to high range. Garage and pantry systems vary by linear footage. Written estimates after measurement and design consultation.
How long does closet installation take?
Most single closet installations complete in 1-2 days. Walk-in closets with extensive drawer systems and lighting take 2-3 days. Whole-house projects (multiple closets, pantry, mudroom) run 3-5 days. Design consultation and material ordering happen before installation day — lead time for custom materials is typically 2-3 weeks.
What’s the difference between custom-built and a kit system?
Kit systems (ClosetMaid, Rubbermaid, IKEA PAX) are pre-made components assembled to fixed sizes. They don’t accommodate non-square walls, specific wardrobe mixes, or unusual room shapes. Custom-built systems are measured, designed, and built for your specific space — scribed to imperfect walls, anchored to studs, and configured around what you actually store. The fit is noticeably better, the quality is higher, and the system lasts decades instead of years.
Can you work around existing doors and windows?
Yes — custom means working with whatever your room gives us. Closets with windows, angled ceilings (attic conversions), non-standard depths, structural posts, HVAC registers, and off-center doors are all things we design around. Kit systems can’t handle these; custom systems embrace them.
What material finishes are available?
White melamine is the most popular and affordable — clean, bright, easy to wipe. Wood-grain laminates (oak, walnut, maple looks) provide warmth without solid wood cost. Painted MDF allows any color — match your room paint for a built-in look. Solid wood (maple, cherry) is the premium tier for high-end walk-ins. Hardware finishes include brushed nickel, matte black, chrome, and brass.
Do you remove the old closet system first?
Yes — we remove existing wire shelving, old rod-and-shelf setups, or previous closet systems as part of the installation. Wall patching from old anchor holes is included. If the walls need repainting after old system removal (common), we handle that too so the closet interior looks fresh behind the new system.
Can you add a closet where there isn’t one?
Yes — we can frame new closet walls, install doors, and build the interior system as one project. Adding a closet to a bedroom that doesn’t have one (common in older MA homes) adds functional value and is often required for the room to legally count as a “bedroom” in real estate listings.
Is lighting worth the extra cost?
LED lighting transforms the closet experience — you can see every item clearly without overhead room light spilling in. Motion-sensor activation means lights turn on when you open the door. The cost is modest relative to the total system and the daily usability improvement is significant. We recommend it for walk-in closets and deep reach-in closets.
Can you do garage and pantry too?
Absolutely. Garage storage (wall systems, overhead racks, workbench), pantry organization (pull-out shelving, door racks), mudroom built-ins (cubbies, bench, coat hooks), and laundry room storage (upper cabinets, folding counter, hamper built-ins) — all designed and built to the same custom standard as our closet systems.
