Small Concrete Pad Installation Reinforced pads for AC units, generators, sheds, and outdoor equipment.
MA contractor pouring small reinforced concrete pads for AC condensers, whole-house generators, garden sheds, dumpsters, mailbox bases, garbage enclosures, mini-split exterior units, and any other outdoor equipment needing a stable base. Same-week scheduling typical.
The Small Pad That Solves a Hundred Different Problems
You bought a new whole-house generator and the installer wants a concrete pad before they’ll mount it. Your A/C condenser is sitting in dirt and the housing is rusting from ground moisture. Your shed delivery is next week and the company won’t deliver without a level base. Your wife wants a small concrete pad behind the garage for garbage cans. Every single one of these is a small concrete pad job.
At JM All-Pro Services, we pour small concrete pads across MA for any outdoor equipment or storage need. 4-inch reinforced slab over compacted gravel, sized to your specifications, scheduled fast. Most pads complete in 1-2 days from start to finish plus normal cure time. Same-week scheduling typical for spring through fall.
Common Small Pad Applications
If it sits outside and needs a stable level base, we’ve probably poured a pad for it. The most-requested applications:
AC Condenser Pad
Most CommonOutdoor AC compressor unit base. Stops rust, supports weight, allows proper drainage. Standard residential AC.

Tools / BikesBase for outdoor storage cabinets, plastic bins, bike sheds, pool equipment storage. Mud-free, stable.
4’×6′ typicalHeat Pump Pad
Geothermal / Air-SourceFoundation for outdoor heat pump unit. Mass Save program installations often require concrete pad base.
3’×4′ typicalPool Equipment Pad
Pump / HeaterPad for pool pump, filter, heater, salt cell. Often coordinated with pool installation. Drainage included.
4’×6′ typicalGrill / Outdoor Kitchen Base
Anchor PadBase for built-in grills, outdoor kitchen islands, or pizza ovens. Anchored to prevent movement.
Custom sizedRecommended Thickness by Application
▸ Different applications need different specsWhat Every Pad We Pour Includes
The pad price isn’t just concrete — it’s the whole foundation system that makes the pad last. Every pad we install includes:
Site Excavation
Topsoil removed, area excavated to proper depth for base + slab.
Compacted Gravel Base
4-6″ of compacted 3/4″ crushed stone for drainage and stability.
Geotextile Fabric
Non-woven separation layer prevents soil mixing with base aggregate.
Concrete Forms
Wood forms built to exact pad dimensions. Square corners, true edges.
Reinforcement
Rebar grid or fiber-reinforced concrete depending on application.
Air-Entrained Concrete
3,500-4,000 PSI air-entrained mix for MA freeze-thaw cycles.
Screeded + Troweled
Surface screeded level, troweled smooth. Light broom finish for traction.
Edge Detailing
Edges rounded with edging tool. Control joints if pad is over 4’×4′.
Our Pad Installation Process
Small pads complete in 1-2 working days plus normal concrete cure. Standard sequence:
Phone or On-Site Quote

Dig-Safe Call
811 call 72+ hours before any digging. MA law required.
Excavation
Excavate area, remove topsoil, prep for base. Most pads same day.
Base + Forms
Geotextile, gravel compacted, forms built, rebar placed.
Concrete Pour
Concrete delivered, placed, screeded, troweled, finished.
Cure
Concrete cures 3-7 days for light use, 28 days full strength.
Equipment Install
Pad ready for AC, generator, shed, or whatever you’re installing.
What Affects Small Pad Cost
Small pad cost is straightforward — driven by these factors:
Pad Dimensions
Square footage is the primary cost driver. Larger pads cost more proportionally.
Concrete Thickness
4″ standard vs 6″ for heavy equipment or commercial use.
Reinforcement Type
Fiber-reinforced concrete vs rebar grid. Rebar adds material and labor.
Site Access
Truck access for concrete delivery vs wheelbarrowing to back yard.
Excavation Difficulty
Soft soil vs hard clay, rocks, or tree roots. Major effect on labor time.
Conduit Routing
Adding 240V electrical conduit under pad for generator or pool equipment.
Existing Surface Removal
Demo of old concrete, pavers, or wooden base adds disposal costs.
Multiple Pads at Once
Several pads same visit shares trip and concrete delivery — bundle savings.

Small Concrete Pad FAQs
How much does a small concrete pad cost in MA?
Cost depends on size, thickness, reinforcement, and site access. Small pads (3’×3′ AC base) are the most affordable. Larger pads (10’×12′ dumpster pad) cost more. Heavy-duty 6″ thickness vs standard 4″ affects cost. Site conditions and excavation difficulty matter. Multiple pads same visit can share delivery and bundle. Written estimates provided.
How long does a small pad installation take?
Most small pads complete in 1-2 working days from start to finish (excavation, base prep, forms, rebar, pour). Concrete then needs cure time before use. Light equipment can be placed on a pad after 3-7 days. Full strength is reached at 28 days but most applications don’t need to wait that long.
Can you schedule this fast?
Yes — small pads are often scheduled within the same week or following week, spring through fall. Cold-weather pours (December-March) are more limited but possible with precautions. Booking ahead 1-2 weeks is best, but same-week is common when needed (especially when generator installer or shed delivery is on a clock).
Does the pad need a permit?
Small concrete pads (under 200 sq ft typically) do not require permits in most MA towns. Larger pads, structural pads (foundations), or pads with electrical work may need permits. We verify your specific town’s requirements.
What thickness do I need for my pad?
Depends on application. 4″ is standard for AC condensers, mini-split units, garbage bins, mailbox pads, and small storage. 5-6″ recommended for whole-house generators (which weigh 500-1,000 lbs and vibrate). 6″ for commercial dumpsters or heavy commercial equipment. We confirm based on what’s going on it.
Will the pad crack?
Properly poured pads with reinforcement and control joints rarely crack noticeably in the first 20-30 years. Hairline cracks are normal in any concrete pour but don’t affect function. Major cracking comes from inadequate base prep or skipping reinforcement — we don’t skip these.
Can I have you install AC/generator electrical conduit too?
We route conduit under the pad before the pour (so it’s clean and code-compliant), but the actual electrical connections to your panel and equipment must be done by a licensed electrician. We can coordinate timing with your electrician or recommend ones we’ve worked with.
Can you pour around an existing AC or pad?
Yes — we can pour pads adjacent to or extending existing concrete. For replacing an existing pad (where the equipment will be moved temporarily), we coordinate with the AC company or homeowner for safe disconnection and reconnection.
Do I need a level surface or can the pad be sloped?
Equipment pads (AC, generator, heat pump) must be level. Some applications (drainage pads, garbage pads) have slight slope for water runoff. We confirm slope requirements based on application.
How do I get started?
Call (508) 925-0396 or submit the quote form. Tell us what the pad is for, approximate dimensions, location on property, and target completion date. We schedule a free on-site visit if needed, or provide phone-based estimates for straightforward pads. Written estimate follows.
