Entry door cost varies by material, style, and configuration. A standard fiberglass entry door without sidelights is the most common replacement. Adding sidelights or a transom window increases cost significantly but transforms the entry. Steel doors are most affordable. Solid wood is most expensive. Fiberglass is the better choice for most MA front doors. It won’t dent like steel, won’t warp like wood, won’t rust, insulates well, and can be stained to look like real wood grain. Steel is best for budget projects, garage-to-house doors (fire-rated), and utility doors where security matters more than aesthetics. Solid wood is premium but requires periodic refinishing and can warp in MA humidity.

In Massachusetts, storm doors extend the life of your entry door by protecting it from direct weather exposure. Sometimes — if the existing frame is in good condition, plumb, and properly weathersealed, we can install a slab-only replacement. Pre-hung replacement provides the best seal, operation, and warranty.

Hollow-core doors are cheap, lightweight, and provide zero sound blocking. They feel flimsy. Solid-core doors (wood composite or MDF filled) are heavier, more substantial, and block noticeably more sound between rooms. The price difference is moderate per door but meaningful across a whole house. Solid-core is worth it for bedrooms and bathrooms at minimum.

Standard sliding patio doors are 6-foot wide (two 3-foot panels). 8-foot, 9-foot, and 12-foot multi-panel options available from Andersen, Pella, and Marvin. Wider doors require larger rough openings — if your existing opening is smaller, framing work is needed to enlarge. Three-panel and four-panel sliding doors maximize outdoor connection.

Smart locks (keypad, fingerprint, Bluetooth, Wi-Fi) install on most entry doors. We can install smart locks as part of any entry door replacement.
